The essay is part of the great issue of the relationship between politics and religion in the contemporary world. Specifically, it tries to highlight the link between the Greek Orthodox message and the emergence of Leninist Marxist doctrine. Marxism-Leninism is analyzed in its role as a substitute for a religious system on an ethical and existential level within the tsarist state of the twentieth century. Communism is presented as the spring that makes the Russian state find that characteristic of exceptionalism lost in its slow process of westernization.
