The essay, originally presented at the Conference on Vittorio Strada’s work (Padua, May 2019), describes the reasons for the cultural war between Russia and Europe. The October Revolution and the resulting Soviet system are seen not as an alternative modernity to the one developed in Europe on the political, economic and cultural level, but as a violent reactionary phenomenon against Western civilization and its way of life based on individual freedoms.
